BRAVE: a site specific sculpture by Gerardine Wisdom

Applefest Projects

Brave was a site-specific sculpture especially commissioned from rush artist Gerardine Wisdom; Gerardine harvests her own rushes from the Shannon river at the bottom of her garden and dries them in situ. Her exquisite work for Applefest was based around the theme of bravery and through interviews and workshops with Clonmel TY classes, the participants selected Greta Thunberg as a symbol of modern bravery to sit atop the larger than life equestrian statue. The sculpture was sited in the grounds of Old St-Mary’s throughout the month of September and is now on exhibit in the entrance lobby of the Clonmel TÚS Campus. See video below to follow the process of making the sculpture.
