As the eighth-generation torchbearer of this distinguished musical lineage, Shakir carries forward a rich tradition of sitar and surbahar, tracing back several generations. He will be accompanied by his trusted collaborator Debajyoti Sanyal (Kolkata, India), a world-class exponent of Indian classical Tabla.
With a deep command of sur (melody) and laya (rhythm), Shakir’s performances captivate audiences worldwide. His artistry extends beyond classical music, seamlessly blending into international fusion projects such as the European Jazz Ensemble (Germany) and Human Evolution (Spain). Committed to preserving and sharing his heritage, he founded SwarSetu in memory of his grandfather, training students globally.

Debajyoti Sanyal (Kolkata, India) A world-class exponent of Indian classical Tabla, Debajyoti began his training at the age of four under his father before learning from the legendary Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and Pandit Shankar Ghosh. He regularly performs across India and internationally, blending extraordinary virtuosity with deep expression.
