As part of National Heritage Week 2021, Clonmel Applefest hosted a Biodiversity Day in the Park with a selection of arts & Craft activities as well as a Community Mural project. Designed and facilitated by Brigid Teehan in collaboration with associate artist Paulette Donovan, the project was supported by Clonmel Tidy Towns with community funding from Tipperary County Council. Over 70 people of all ages took part, painting in some of the outline images and adding smaller images of their own.
Other contributors to the day were Elke Wilson with willow weaving around our Caim Coracle project, Calligraphy & grief message writing with Jenny Cox, slate drawing & beading with Lyn Mather as well as family drumming with Andy Spearpoint. Entomologist Louise Garcia hosted two family-friendly bug kick-sampling workshops by the riverside ( in conjunction with Suircan Environmental), Clonmel Tidy towns had an information table and Fitnut coffee offered refreshments.
